Wairarapa Hospital is looking for an experienced Clinical Coder to join our Administrative team, you will be based at the Wairarapa Hospital, with the potential for some admissions to be processed remotely (as and where the business can support digital admissions).

This is a part time permanent position, working 48 hours per fortnight (0.6) FTE days and hours of work to be disccussed at interview stage.

The purpose of this role is to provide accurate and timely coding of diseases and procedures for all patient admissions at Wairarapa Hospital and some procedures completed offsite but for Wairarapa services. There is high demand to meet deadlines and to maintain accuracy and quality of information in line with NDHB and New Zealand Council of Healthcare Standards requirements. You will need to have a high attention to detail, accuracy and proven ability to meet deadlines and prioritise workload.

About you

The ideal candidate will hold a recognised Medical Terminology qualification (if Medical Terminology course has not been completed in the last 12 months, Clinical Coding qualification and minimum two years previous health related clerical / clinical record / nursing or clinical experience

You should be friendly, calm, approachable, have an eye for detail and accurate data entry skills.

You will be able to communicate effectively with others, have good organisation skills, the ability to prioritise your workload within a busy environment and use your initiative when working unsupervised.
