Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Are you passionate about the safety and wellbeing of staff and patients?

We are looking for a registered nurse or allied health professional to coordinate and administer the Wairarapa moving and handling programme. We are committed to safety, wellbeing and ensuring compliance with best practice and legislative requirements to minimise the risk of manual handling related injury to employees and patients.

You will be responsible for:

  • Development and delivery of programmes designed to reduce and prevent injury and work-related ill health.
  • Induction and ongoing training and education.
  • The policies and procedures that ensure all staff practice at the highest level of competence in relation to safe moving and handling.
  • Best practice and legislative compliance of these programmes.

Moū - About you

Amongst other things to be considered for this role you will:

  • Have an appropriate nursing or allied health professional qualification with at least 3 years post-registration experience in a clinical setting.
  • Be self-motivated and enthusiastic and love working with people.
  • Have previous experience and success in teaching and/or delivery of training programmes.
  • Evidence of an extensive awareness and understanding of safe moving and handling practice in a patient care setting.

Occupational health and safety and manual handling coordination is part of the Quality and Risk Team at Wairarapa Hospital. Our team is enthusiastic and fun as well as collaborative and hard-working and you will be expected to be the same.
